Beautiful Beginnings

Brandon & Emily Cavins had their beautiful and intimate wedding ceremony on February 6th, 2021 at Higher Ground, LLC in New Haven, IL. They became engaged this past winter, and I got to meet them shortly after during their cute mini session in Newburgh! Emily was beaming and showing off her gorgeous ring!! After our initial session, they asked me to be their wedding photographer. I enthusiastically said, “YES!”. Since they are both nurses and have endured plenty of craziness during the pandemic, they decided to move their wedding up to February (earlier than planned)! I mean, why wait?! When you know, you know!

An Intimate Wedding

Their day at Higher Ground in Southern Illinois was STUNNING. The celebration was filled with close family, friends and so much joy! It was an absolutely beautiful day, perfect for such a special occasion. Their venue had an old yellow farmhouse with a spacious bridal suite, and a cool groom’s quarters!

After everyone finished getting ready, it was time for all the “firsts”! The sunshine came out during Emily’s first look with her dad, which was incredibly precious. Emily & Brandon’s first touch was also really sweet! He even confessed he got pulled over for speeding on the way to the wedding, which made Emily belly laugh!

The ceremony took place in the loft of the property barn/reception venue. It was quaint and touching. Brandon’s little brother, Alec, passed away last June in a car accident; to honor him throughout the wedding, the brothers all held a picture of him below. One of the bridesmaids, Sarah Labitzke, also walked down the aisle by herself in remembrance of Alec.

As the sun went down, the temperature dropped and as the couple exited the reception, it started to SNOW! Of course, we had to capture a few magical, snowy moments! Sparklers were glowing, white snowflakes were falling and everyone was cheering for the new married couple! What a dream!
