Derek and Peyton are getting married this September and had an adorable, intimate Willard Library engagement session! But first, details!
How did he propose? (from Peyton):
“Derek planned a date night for us one Friday night and it was a night full of sentimental moments. We went to Farmer and Frenchman for dinner, which is where we went to celebrate our first anniversary. After dinner, Derek mentioned he had dessert in the car for us to eat when we got to our next stop. He stopped by Milk and Sugar (where we had our first date) to get some ice cream.
We went to the top of the hill of Helfrich Golf Course, set up our blankets, got cozy, and ate our ice cream. It was a beautiful spot with a view of the city lights. Derek had put together a slideshow of pictures and videos of us and played it for me on his phone. When it was over, he got down on one knee. He told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life making memories together, and asked me to marry him. :)”
Peyton is a first-grade teacher at Farmersville Elementary in Mount Vernon. She also teaches night and online classes in the Education department at USI – which she loves! Derek works in marketing for a small business locally. He’s currently working on his Master’s Degree in Psychology through Ball State and he plans to apply to a neuroscience program.
They’re both so passionate about learning, so Willard Library in Evansville was the perfect setting to start their engagement session! Peyton spent a lot of time there, and brought Derek there with her when they were first dating. I’d never been there before, but it had creaky old floors and smelled exactly like you’d want a library to smell. Afterwards, we went downtown to the Penny Lane area. Peyton loves all the historic brick homes in the area and wanted to capture that in their photos.
Derek and Peyton are super cute and fun together; being silly comes natural to this couple! They even busted out a few awesome dance moves during this session! So much fun!
I’ve had the privilege of capturing their special moments twice this year, and I can’t wait to capture their wedding in September! Happy wedding planning – I’m so excited for you two!
