Stephanie and Zach Elpers’ snowy wedding day took place on February 13th, 2021 at the Bauerhaus in Darmstadt, Indiana. It was an absolute dream. Their day looked like something right out of a fairytale, and Stephanie looked like Belle from Beauty & The Beast with her winter cape & off the shoulder dress from House of White Bridal in Newburgh (where I got my own wedding dress, cue the tears).
Almost every bride loves to have something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Well, Stephanie’s “something blue” carried an extra special meaning. Her mom gave her a precious ring with a stunning blue stone from her grandma to represent both sentimentality, family and tradition as she walked down the aisle. SO sweet.
It was probably the chilliest wedding day that I’ve ever shot, so we took turns running outside into the 28 degree weather. Stephanie, Zach and their whole wedding party were total troopers against the cold. Stephanie even wore these cute white winter boots (like a champ!) to keep her feet warm outside!
Before the ceremony, Steph and Zach exchanged letters. It took place around a door in a private moment just for them, and it was incredibly touching. The emotion and love for one another was truly palpable.
After the wedding, we took a quick trip south. Zach’s parents own The Log Inn in Fort Branch, so we took the whole wedding party there to grab a few photos of them at the bar – a tradition that has been passed through his family for years!
At the reception, everyone danced the night away, and they had a beautiful macaroon-based cake! Their day was just incredible and picturesque. What an honor and joy to capture the Elpers snowy wedding day! I wish you both the very best!
Favorite Part of the Day: “My favorite moment was Zach and I’s letter exchange before the ceremony. It was just such a sweet, intimate moment that we shared and I have photos to look back on to remember it forever! Zach’s favorite moment was our first dance!”
Fun/Sentimental Moments from Wedding Day: “The snow was beautiful but it was covered in a layer of ice and the wind chill was FREEZING (literally)! So my sister would make comments like ‘wow, it’s so hot outside I’m sweating’ which of course made us all laugh and you can see it in our pictures 🙂 You (Rachelle) also stomped through the ice to make a trail for me so I didn’t slip and fall which I appreciate more than you know!! You also did everything you possibly could to keep me warm. I’ll remember those little details forever!”
Best Advice for Couples in the Wedding Planning Process: “DON’T STRESS…it’s easier said than done but that day will come and go so fast. Enjoy it…even the crazy planning because you only get to experience it once :)”
